Halar coating, also known as ECTFE (Ethylene Chlorotrifluoroethylene) coating, is a high-performance fluoropolymer coating known for its exceptional chemical resistance, electrical insulation, and mechanical strength. It offers a unique balance between PTFE’s chemical inertness and a thermoplastic’s toughness, making it an ideal choice for harsh industrial environments. Halar coatings are semi-crystalline and can be applied in thin or thick layers depending on the required protection level. Once cured, the coating forms a smooth, hard, and durable surface that resists corrosion, chemicals, and abrasion.
Halar is particularly suited for applications involving aggressive chemicals, high humidity, and temperature fluctuations. It provides long-term protection to metals, preventing corrosion in environments where other coatings may fail. Because of its excellent dielectric properties, Halar is also used in electrical and electronic components. The coating is typically applied by electrostatic powder coating or fluidized bed dipping, followed by baking to achieve strong adhesion and surface integrity.
